I am aware of some issues with Vista/XP in non-admin mode for copying files to the iPod and will check it out.

Did you fix it? 'cause to me is no not working yet.....

Can I use with ipod touch?

Thanks for your software.
I have an ipod classic and noticed that resume-play does not work on videos.
For example: If I'm watching a video and in the middle of it I start listening music then when I resume playing the video it starts over from the beginning. That does not happen with videos uploaded with iTunes.

Also cover flow will be nice. Check this about the Artwork database.
www.waldoland.com/blog/labels/iPod.aspx

Anyways... great software.

just a question - I have a new IPOD but I can't install Itunes because Quicktime keeps having an error. I put SharePod onto the IPOD and it works great getting music on the IPOD (I can see it in MY Computer) The proble is the IPOD says there is no music on the IPOD. Can you advise where I should put the music in the ipod folders and how it must be named in order for the IPOD to allow me to play it? thanks, Martin in Perth

Jeff, thanks for the bug fixes. Your software is excellent. Wondering if you could add support for m4b (bookmarkable audiobook format) since you have m4a in there already.

Keep on rockin, man!

Hello Jeff!
Man, congratulations for your SharePod. Is a *wonderful* hobby; work on that during your free-time, helping many iPod owners unsatisfied with iTunes. SharePod is the only free way to use my device with my jurassic Windows 98! But... I'm using the 3.6.3 version and I still can't pass *.aac to the iPod. What's happening? Thank you and gratz for the job again!

Hi !
Congratulations, SharePod is a very useful software with a nice GUI.
I don't know where to post about bugs, so I'll post it here.
There are issues with songs sorting : the main sorting criterion is not the last column I clicked on. For example, if I click on "Album" and then on "Artist", the artist name should be uses as first criterion, and then "Album" if the artist is the same.
As a result, when I open SharePod and click on a column header, I'll never be able to sort the songs with another column later...
Sorting is probably not your priority, but don't hesitate to ask me if you need more info.

just upgraded from an ols version of sharepod...great programme thanks!
can you get it to create folders for genre / artist etc on this new version?....I really liked that in the old version..
Thanks again

FusionStream said...

To Raphael:

Just below the song track listing, there is a yellow boxy area. It shows you the current sorting method.

There is also a "hyperlink" where you can reset the sorting order.

I really love your SharePod at first sight, but one thing irritates me: Why cant i delete Podcasts from the Ipod? It always just says "You cannot delete Podcast tracks"...

SS said...

Hey, I'm having a problem. Whenever I try to open SharePod, this window pops up saying that "iTunes has locked the iPod database. Please wait for iTunes to finish synchronising." And then SharePod is "forced" to close. The thing is that I don't have iTunes on my computer. And this hasn't happened before, so I don't know what to do.

Help, please? *puppy eyes*

paulgrobertson said...

Sharepod does not format its window correctly on my winxp system. Tool bar icons and text are big and overlap. Right pane contents only fill 2/3rds of window frame. Cant see all contents of some dialog boxes. I suspect the problem is that I have windows display set to large, (see: controlpanel display settings advanced general dpisetting large). I think sharepod is not correctly adjusting for this. Please take a look. Thanks.

FusionStream said...

It's likely you had iTunes installed previously?

I have had the same problem on occasion. I usually fix it by running iTunes and then closing it again. (Note: I have "run iTunes when this iPod os connected" disabled and "Manually manage music" enabled)

Then again, sometimes I don't even see this problem. If running and then closing iTunes is not an option for you, try (safely) removing the iPod and then reconnecting it.

Volmok said...

Hi there,

I saw you application and SDK and I'm impressed, but i can't use it. I took a look at the FAQ and i saw there that the GetConnectediPod() method is looking for this file 'iPod_Control\iTunesDB'. I used Jailbreakme to be able to install some neat applications on my iPod touch. I quickly installed a file browser on the iPod and looked for the file. I saw that on my iPod is located in '~\Media\iTunes_Control\iTunes\iTunesDB' ~ being the root.
Can anyone tell me if this is can be fixed?

SS said...

Fusionstream: YES, it worked. Thank you! :D

Sharepod works great even with win2000 and the new nano that is not supported by iTune.
The only problem I have is with video.
The same video that I am able to transfer on my nano with iTune has problem with Sharepod.
The video is trasferred on iPod and I see it on the video menu of my iPod but if I try to play it, nothing happens.
I will do other tests with XP and I will let you know.

FusionStream said...

Errico: It's probably a problem with the video itself. I myself had some problems a while back with a video i converted. Played fine on Windows but jammed up on my ipod on loading. Had another one that would show a black screen for a bit and then return back to the menu. Re-encoding them helped.

Unknown said...

Than you for your reply.
I tried with different videos all encoded with the same program "Super" and I have always the same behaviour: black screen for a while and then back to the menu.
What program do you use for conversion?
The same videos are correctly loaded with iTunes

FusionStream said...

Yea! I used to use Super too! I remember having problems with it although when I try to recall the issue, I can't remember if it was due to the encoder or my not setting it up correctly. In any case, I made the switch to ImTOO Ipod Video Converter. With the exception of same audio sync issues with certain file types, it works like a charm.

Hello Jeff,

first of all...THANK YOU!!! I hate Itunes and i love Sharepod. Since now I used poddox, but it doesn´t copy videos. Now my question: does exist a function to copy pictures? i can´t find it? I wonder because videos are there and fotos not?
It´s my fold?
Thank a lot again!
Ciao

P.S.: If you want i can translate the buttons in German and Italian! Let me know!

Fabio said...

Hello Errico,

I use videora! Perfect! Try it!

Some of the cool features that Sharepod does not support yet includes transferring of photos and smart playlist creation/modification.

But I'm sure it'll come soon cuz other programs like GTKPod have already cracked it.

Is there a way to batch edit the TV Show tags?

For Example, if I have 150 episodes of Bleach, I can use SharePod but to put them into the TV Show category, but I still have to add the what TV Show it is for each episode separately.

Any fix for this?

Unknown said...

I was able to load with sharepod video encoded with Super.
The problem was the file extention, Super uses capital letters for file extention, like this video.MP4. I modified in video.mp4 and now everything works fine. I saw that iTunes too changes the file extention in lower case.
Sharepod is really a great program!
I can get rid of iTunes

FusionStream said...

Hmm... that is very very interesting...

One bug that's been present in every SharePod version since 3.0.0.2 (when I started using it) is the Year tag showing 0 when I transfer music, podcasts and videos to my 5G iPod video (using XP Pro, SP2). I make sure all tracks are tagged properly and sort albums by year using Rockbox, but always have to populate the Year tag when I transfer music files with SharePod. It's like Sharepod is stripping the Year tag when files are transferred to the iPod. I'd appreciate it if you would take a look at this bug at some point and hopefully get it corrected. I love SharePod and am grateful for all the frequent updates and new features!

Hi- love your SW, works well on my old shuffle and 80gig Video.
One weird/annoying thing is that on my shuffle everything plays at about one third of the volume that it should, and I can't find a fix. I thought the Utility has the ability to sort this but can't seem to do it with Version 3.6.1
Any ideas buddy?
Cheers

I am using v3.6.3 and I can't seem to figure out how to re-order tracks or videos on a given playlist. I read it was a new feature since 3.3 (see below) but I don't see how to do this. Help?

"Drag tracks up and down playlists to re-order them (this is the most requested feature!)"

Jeff:
Hello! Thank you for a wonderful product. I've already donated as I encourage every user to do so.

Everything in Vista RTM works EXCEPT for copy to iPOD. I'm using a 5G 60GB Video iPOD. I've tried many, many times now and every time get "SharePod has stopped working..."

I used my girlfriend's XP SP2 machine and it worked without error.

I tried upgrading .NET to 3.5, hot fixes, patches, etc. Nothing works on Vista.

Help! I love your program.

Cheers,
Adam

Unknown said...

I have the same problem as Adam. Sharepod 3.6.3 cannot copy a file from a Vista machine, but plugging the same iPod into an XP machine works fine.
Sharepod will load on Vista, and show the tracks, but it will crash if a file is copied to it.
Also, drag-and-drop doesn't work - the cursor changes to a "no" circle. The same file can be dragged just fine on XP.

Katy Lai said...

I'm having the same the problem as many other people.
I cannot seem to drag-and-drop music files from my computer to the IPOD using Sharepod 3.6.3. Whenever I try to drag in files, the cursor changes to a black "not allowed" circle. I am using Window Vista.

I have a ipod classic and have dowloaded sharepod. I keep getting a error message saying there is no recognized ipod plugged in. Does this mean i have no administration rights? If 'yes' how do i go about getting admin rights so i can use my ipod on multiple pc's? or is there a work around?

Andre said...

Could you add the following?

* - Pause playing when computer is locked
* - Shuffle in a playlist doesn't stay in the playlist
* - Minimize to systray and mouse hover gives display of what is playing.

Thanks

Love this program - it is very convenient and nicely laid out.

The only problem I am having with it is a recurring unhandled exception error (object reference not set to an instance of an object). The error log is attached below. If I click Continue, I am able to proceed with the program; however, the error pops up every few seconds, depending on what I am doing. For example, if I am copying files off the iPod, it will not pop up an error box unless I Alt-Tab to another application.

I am using the most recent version of the program, and all my .NET libraries are up-to-date.

Again, thanks for the neat program.
